India's digital workplace transformation maturity, scoring 64.6%, surpasses that of developed countries and the global average of 62.3%, according to the findings of the 'Workplace Digital Transformation Survey 2025' conducted by Zoho Workplace, the enterprise email and collaboration suite of the company. Approximately 5,000 employees were assessed worldwide to investigate elements influencing their everyday experiences and the level of digital adoption within their organizations.

The digital transformation (DX) maturity model for the workplace was developed from workplace indicators (digital tools and processes) as well as employee performance metrics (productivity, collaboration, and security readiness). It divided the development into four stages—informal operations (limited or spontaneous use of tools and processes), standardisation (uniformity of tools and workflows), structured operations (enhanced integration among departments), and optimisation (ongoing enhancement of tools and processes).

Furthermore, the survey assessed employee experience, the effects of change on the work environment, and the use of digital tools like AI and analytics.

"In India, government institutions and large enterprises must reassess their digital transformation strategies to address cybersecurity gaps and enhance collaboration. Leadership across sectors should champion initiatives that ease the steep learning curves associated with advanced digital tools," said Rakeeb Rafeek, market strategy lead, Zoho Workplace.
